Circumcision May Help Reduce Risk of Contracting Genital Herpes
The U.S Center for Disease Control is on the verge of endorsing circumcision as a means of preventing HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases, including herpes and human papilloma virus. The decision is based on the results from numerous studies, conducted for the most part in sub-Saharan Africa, showing that circumcision reduces the risk of HIV infection by as much as 50% to 60%, and at the same time reduces the risk of herpes and human papilloma virus by approximately 30%.
